Dont mess around and download a duplicate mods like the 'Immersive Circles' and the recent All Skyrim mod.
Move it to the bottom of your load order. Saves having to download them all over again. I dont load a save after disabling unless it has specific uninstall/removing instructions.

Go to the folder where NMM stores its downloads then copy the mod installers. Make sure to remember where each one goes. And copy your save files to a safe place. I wouldn't use an auto or quicksave, but a hard save. A lightweight utility capable of deleting NetImmerse Override data from SKSE co-save files, thus decreasing both the sizes of those files and Skyrim save and load times. Make a clean save (go to a cell not touched by mods, in my case Breezehome).
I was plagued by the dreaded NPC gray/black face bug with Lydia and Aela, but I found out that the save game script cleaner can remove their references from the game and force the game to reload their facial information.
